Day 1 we’re bringing forward because of some weather issues possibly making driving a little more difficult. The Bureau of Meteorology suggests: A small low lies well off the northern New South Wales coast. A high pressure system is centered to the east of Tasmania. Both systems are forecast to move east during the next few days, with the high extending a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast. During Wednesday and Thursday a gusty cold front preceded by a rain band is expected to move through the state.
Getting to Peterborough isn’t too difficult. It’s straight up Main North Rd to the Sturt Hwy to by-pass Gawler, then onto the Barrier Hwy up through towns like Saddleworth and Burra. When we get to Terowie, we turn left onto the Peterborough-Terowie Rd for the last 20km.
With a relatively warm night expected, we’ll crack open the 2 man tent at the local caravan park and get some sleep in preparation for the long drive on day 2.
Peterborough is 231km north of our place in Banksia Park. Considering traffic, it’s expected to be about a 3 hour drive. We’re expecting a cloudy and slightly windy night.
